Creating new power opportunities to power AI

Thursday 5 June 2025
Keynote Theatre - Discovery Zone
Keynote Theatre

With the advent of small modular reactors (SMRs), nuclear-powered data centres could become a reality within the next decade. With the hyperscalers heavily investing in nuclear power what is the timeframe for a nuclear-powered data centre? And if not nuclear, what other power options are emerging to support AI. How green is nuclear and what are the regulatory implications?

  • What is the lead time and planning for SMR’s be ready to be deployed at scale?

  • What other power options are a viable alternative – micro grids/hydrogen?

  • Nuclear, renewables, on site generation; none are a one size fits all solution, so how can a combination of energy solutions help to create the variable load profile required?
