The confluence of grid power, data centres and on-site energy centres - Invite only

Wednesday 4 June 2025
Engage 1 - Engage Zone
Datacloud Engage - Engage 1

Data centres are evolving beyond their traditional role as passive energy consumers. In an era defined by climate urgency, grid instability, and the decentralisation of energy, a new paradigm is emerging—one where data centres are not just energy users, but active, intelligent participants in the energy ecosystem. In this workshop we will explore the transformative potential at the intersection of grid power, on-site energy centres, and data centre operations. We will delve into how data centres can become good grid citizens—balancing their massive energy demands with the responsibility to support grid resilience, sustainability, and flexibility.

In this session you will have the opportunity to gain insights and engage in discussions on the following topics: equipping you with the knowledge to reimagine your data centre as a cornerstone of the future energy landscape—resilient, responsive, and regenerative.

  • The role of on-site energy centres: Explore the most viable microgrid generation options—solar PV, natural gas CHP, fuel cells, and emerging hydrogen technologies—and how they can be integrated into data centre infrastructure.
  • Energy storage for grid services: Understand the strategic value of battery energy storage systems (BESS), thermal storage, and other hybrid solutions in enabling demand response, frequency regulation, and peak shaving.
  • Grid-Interactive data centres: Learn how intelligent energy orchestration, real-time grid communication, and AI-driven load management can transform data centres into stabilising assets for the grid.
