Contact Energy

Contact Energy is New Zealand’s second largest electricity generator-retailer, producing around 27% of New Zealand’s annual generation from its diverse and resilient portfolio of assets across the country. It is also the world’s 7th largest geothermal generator.

Contact delivers around 12TWh of electricity in an average year of hydrology. Around 98% of this comes from renewable sources, including Contact’s geothermal and hydro assets and wind power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Contact has 1TWh of generation under construction and a further pipeline of around 11TWh across geothermal, wind and solar – reinforcing its ability to support large-scale electricity demand growth. Contact is ready to support data centre developers and hyperscalers to assess 10+ high-potential 250-500MW sites across New Zealand with grid capacity, reducing time-to-power to under 24 months and structure 100% renewable PPAs to enable sustainable compute.
