James Lapushner is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Anacott Capital, a London-based real estate investment firm focused on special situations investing, capital markets and digital infrastructure. He has over 30 years of experience across real estate private equity, structured finance, opportunistic investing, with a track record spanning more than £30 billion of transactions across Europe and North America.

Previously, James was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREF), where he led German investments and deployed approximately €2 billion of equity across €8+ billion of transactions. He built one of Germany’s largest real estate platforms, with over €12 billion of assets under management, and executed complex acquisitions, asset management strategies, and restructurings through the global financial crisis.

Earlier in his career, he was a Director at Credit Suisse, where he built and led the firm’s continental European real estate debt origination platform, originating and structuring over €10 billion of financings across multiple jurisdictions and asset classes.

James began his career as an attorney in New York, advising on real estate finance, development, and leasing transactions. His investment work has received multiple industry recognitions, including CoStar   Deal of the Year and Real Estate Capital Financing Deal of the Year. He holds a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Rutgers University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University.
